Checking out Email AutoResponders

Over the last few days I’ve been testing 5 different email hosting services:

  • Aweber
  • Campaigner
  • Constant Contact
  • iContact
  • Infusionsoft

I’m going to set up review pages for these email marketing service providers and maybe a couple of others.

Early notes

iContact only has video tutorials, which in one respect is pretty good. On the other hand, videos are too slow for me so I kind of skipped out of there. I will go back, grit my teeth and go through the tutorials and how easy or difficult it is to set up an account.

Constant contact has different kinds of tutorials and was fairly intuitive. It seemed labor intensive to set up an autoresponder sequence. It was pretty tedious. On the plus side one of their reps called me and offered to assist me setting up the account. They get a big gold star for customer service.

Aweber has written as well as video tutorials. The also have a “wizard”, for lack of a better name,  that leads you step by step through setting up your account. It was pretty intuitive and straight forward. So far I like this one.  One negative point is the sign up pages generate code for your site, but I’m not sure that I can modify their templates enough to make it fit they way I want my site to look.

Campaigner looks good out of the box and when I called support the phone was answered promptly by a tech that had an answer to my question.

Infusionsoft is an option for those that already have a large mailing list or expect to have a large list in the future. It appears to be oriented to clients with large lists and it charges appropriately.
