constant contact

Infusionsoft has an easy signup and offers a 15 day trial.

One caveat here, if you don’t have a large list or don’t plan on having a large list, Infusionsoft is not for you. It’s really designed for companies that have very large lists and it’s expensive, at least I think so. Expense aside, this is one of the most powerful systems I’ve reviewed.  It won’t shine your shoes, but you’re wearing running shoes anyway. It will do just about anything else.

In addition to email marketing, they also do phone, fax and snail mail marketing. This is really more than the average email marketing service.

Prebuilt Templates

One of the things I like about Infusionsoft is that they have a lot of prebuilt templates and sequences already built in. Much more prebuilt, fill in the blanks, templates than I’ve seen with the other email services.
For example, they have a “New Customer Welcome Sequence” that has 8 follow up messages in it spread out over 45 days. Each of the messages is customizable as is the sequence. The great thing about this, in my mind, is you don’t have to make these things up. It’s pre-done. One of the biggest challenges many people face, including me, is figuring out what to say and how often to say it. This relieves you of that burden, at least initially.

That said, it is the same as other people are sending even though it’s customizable. That doesn’t mean that you can’t create your own sequences or modify sequences they’ve set up. As a matter of fact, you probably would personalize and redo the sequences as you used this for a while and analyzed the response you’re getting.

Another thing I found interesting with Infusionsoft is that the items/messages in a sequence can be an email, a phone message, or a snail mail message. The idea that you can go beyond just emails is very powerful in my mind. Different people react to different mediums.

Program Actions

In addition, an item/message in a sequence can also execute some program actions. So, for example, if someone clicks a link in an email message that can automatically segement the person into a different list that someone that didn’t click the link. This provides for pre-thoughtout segementation rather than after the fact like most of the other vendors I reviewed

Sign Up Form

I was able to create a text area field and give it a name, but I wasn’t able to find how to add it to the form.  I’m sure it’s there, but I was unable to find a way to do it quickly.

As I’ve mentioned in my other reviews, I like to add a field to sign up forms. I usually ask the person something like “What’s your biggest problem with X?” It’s optional, but many people fill it out and it gives me a better handle on the marketplace. I didn’t see anywhere in their literature, but I assume they are white listed with all the major email recipients, like AOL, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.

This is a great choice if you have a large list and want to service it well.
